Yesterday at Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, many indie game developers came together to show off their upcoming Nintendo Switch games. This list of developers included Leikir Studio and Dotemu, who took the opportunity to discuss the next game in the Metal Slug series, Metal Slug Tactics. The game was first announced as surprise at E3 2021, with a high-energy reveal trailer and just a little information. At the showcase, they released a new trailer for the grid-based tactical RPG with roguelike elements and talked a bit more in-depth about what fans should expect from the game.
The game is set to release sometime in 2022, and although it does not have a specific release date, it does have a Steam page. The gameplay includes familiar faces with main characters Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma, and antagonist Donald Morden seeking revenge. The style of this game will vary from previous installments of the series, introducing refreshed pixel art and an isometric view. Metal Slug Tactics will combine the iconic, signature aspects of the previous games with updated technology, new missions with replay value, and of course, tactics.
Metal Slug Tactics will launch on the Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2022, available in single-player and in Japanese, French, German, English, Spanish, and Italian. Fans should be able to expect more information closer to 2022.
