Metal Slug Tactics Coming To PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, & Xbox One Fall 2024

Publisher Dotemu and developer Leikir Studio have released a new gameplay trailer for Metal Slug Tactics, a new grid-based tactical adaptation of the classic run-and-gun Metal Slug series. They also revealed that the game is set to launch later this year in Fall 2024 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. A demo for the game will also be available giving players the chance to try it for the first time for a limited time during the next Steam Next Fest which runs from June 10-17.

The trailer features series stars Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma in a showcase of how players can advance through the campaign of challenging, swiftly paced missions. Every encounter begins by picking a squad from Metal Slug’s beloved roster of characters, each of which armed with unique loadouts. After surviving battles with lower ranked foes, a pivotal boss battle will take place like the missle-touting warship from the trailer.

Metal Slug Tactics will offer players classic Metal Slug weaponry, leveraging skill trees, perks, and a adrenaline system that allows players to outwit and demolish the flanks of the series’ signature villains. The game’s highly replayable battlefields pair shuffled layouts from hand-crafted sectors of terrain with subtle roguelite elements, pushing fighters to adapt and overcome unpredictable clashes as they master dynamic, strategic combat.

Metal Slug Tactics looks to be both a respectful homage to the Metal Slug series and a imaginative new way to experience the series, channeling Metal Slug’s timeless aesthetic through gorgeous pixel art and fluid animation. The game also features an original soundtrack featuring music from Tee Lopes  (TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Sonic Mania, Streets of Rage 4’s Mr. X Nightmare DLC).
