Today, Meta and Oculus have shared what new games are coming next in the second annual Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. This includes games such as NFL PRO ERA, Among Us VR, Red Matter 2, Bonelab, and more. These games are expected to be released within the next year. Here is a rundown of everything that was revealed today.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution is the next journey for the Tourist’s journey. This next chapter takes place in New Orleans and brings in new faces, places, weapons, gear, and a new and bloodthirsty threat that will hunt players across the city.
Last month, the National Football League announced a new partnership with StatusPRO, a sports tech company to develop a NFL virtual reality game. Today, during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, that game was officially revealed.
NFL PRO ERA uses game data to create the most authentic on-the-field NFL VR experience to date. Players will take on the role of the Quarterback and are able to participate in drills in order to lead their team to a Super Bowl. Players can also play catch virtually with their friends in their favorite NFL stadiums.
During the Game Awards last year, developer InnerSloth revealed that Among Us is coming to VR. The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase revealed that the VR version will be coming out by the end of 2022. It was also announced that Schell Games are working with Oculus and Meta on three more projects.
Red Matter 2 picks up where the previous game left off. In the sequel, players will go across the solar system in order to stop the red matter once and for all. Developer Vertical Robot says that puzzles are still central to the game but Red Matter 2 brings in new tools, a more mobile jetpack, and a few other surprises. More updates will be revealed later this year.
Espire 2 is all about locating a stopping the launch of an untraceable, supersonic missile. With a array of high-tech gadgets, players will once again go behind enemy lines as they try and save the world a second time. Espire 2 adds co-op with an entirely separate co-op campaign, with unique missions set in familiar Espire 1 locations. The co-op side story takes place between Espire 1 and Espire 2.
Moss: Book II launched for PlayStation VR last month. This Summer, the game will be available for the Meta Quest 2. Book II builds on the story from the first game and follows Quill after rescuing her uncle Argus. In her new adventure, Quill has to fend off a winged tyrant who is hunting Quill within the hexed castle where her uncle was held captive.
RUINSMAGUS puts players in the role of a novice wizard as you attempt to solve the secrets of a lost age by journeying deep into a hidden subterranean realm to search for precious and powerful artifacts. The game features 26 fully-voiced quests and features people such as Naomi Ohzora, Ai Maeda, Eiji Takemoto, and more. RUINSMAGUS is set to release later this year.
Cities: VR brings Cities: Skylines into a whole new dimension. The game isn’t a one-to-one port but Fast Travel Games will take players “through the screen.” The game launches next week on April 28.
The Merccenaries mode for Resident Evil 4 is now available in the Resident Evil 4 VR version of the game. Like the original version, players have to take out as many Ganados as possible before time expires. The version for Meta Quest 2 features exclusive online leaderboards, 20 new challenges, and unlockables such as a Big Head Mode, a black-and-white Classic Horror mode, and fancy Golden Gun skins.
The next music pack coming to Beat Saber has been announced. The Electronic Mixtape will feature music from hit artists such as deadmau5, Marshmello, Pendulum, and more.
Stress Level Zero, the developer behind the acclaimed BONEWORKS has announced its next project. BONELAB will be available on both Quest 2 and PC VR. Players will have to fight, run, and climb as they explore an exquisitely detailed combat simulation where every object reacts exactly as the way you’d expect. BONELAB will launch later this year.
Developer nDreams and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality have announced Ghostbusters VR. Players will track, blast, and trap ghosts while unraveling a mystery that threatens the city of San Francisco. Players can play alone or with up to three friends.
