Today, Remedy Entertainment, developers of Control, Quantum Break, Alan Wake have announced that they have entered a new development agreement with Rockstar Games and will remake the games that put the developer on the map, Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.

“Remedy Entertainment, the creators of Max Payne, are pleased to announce that they will remake the iconic Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne video games in a new development agreement with Rockstar Games,” the official press release states. “The relationship between Remedy and Rockstar Games dates back to the original release of the critically acclaimed Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne games, developed by Remedy and published by Rockstar Games. Both games left an indelible mark in popular culture, lauded for their neo-noir atmosphere, groundbreaking storytelling and “bullet-time” gunplay.”
The games will be remade into a single title for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC using Remedy’s proprietary Northlight game engine. Rockstar Games will finance the game’s development, “the size of which will be in-line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production.”

According to the press release, the new Max Payne 1&2 project is currently in the concept development stage. In addition to going back, Remedy Entertainment is also looking forward as they are also working on Alan Wake 2 which was announced at The Game Awards last year and a sequel to Control.
