Master Chief Collection January Update Adds A New Aiming Option Among Other Things

Recently, developer 343 Industries released an update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, bringing in a new feature, new skulls, and playlist updates. The new feature is a refined aiming option that is focused on making the aiming mechanic in the older Halo titles feel more modern.

343 Industries said that “this feature is designed to help address feedback from some players that aim acceleration in MCC doesn’t ‘feel right’.” The new option helps smooth out the acceleration zones on your controller so the older games will feel more like the newer games such as Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 4, and Halo 5. You should be able to tell the difference by the smoother movement of the cursor. The new option is called “feels so good” and it is on by default; however, you can change it back to the Legacy settings if you wish.

Another thing that this month’s update added is new skulls specifically for Halo: Combat Evolved. There are eight new skulls in total. They are called Anger, Bandana, Catch, Ghost, Sputnik, That’s Just Wrong, Thunderstorm, and Tough Luck. Some of the new skulls change how the A.I. functions and behaves while other skulls affect the world of Halo: Combat Evolved. For the full breakdown of what these skulls do, head over to the MCC January update page where 343 Industries breaks down everything that is happening with this new update.

A new playlist called Super Duper Fiesta will be coming to the game. It includes a mix of Fiesta variants for Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo 2 Anniversary. This particular playlist is replacing the Team Action Sack playlist for now. However, the maps from the Team Action Playlist are being added to other playlists. There are also a bunch of bug fixes that were added to the game, as well as a list of other known issues that 343 Industries will be working to fix for future updates.
