Mass Effect: New Earth Amusement Park Ride Opens Today

Fans of Mass Effect now have a chance to experience the world of the Sci-Fi RPG series in the new Mass Effect: New Earth 4D Holographic Experience.  The new ride is available only at California’s Great America Amusement Park.

The ride boasts that it has a the largest LED screen ever for an amusement park ride, and according to Eurogamer the ride has a “60-foot 3D LED screen (running a 4K resolution on a total of 8,294,400 pixels).”  Those are some impressive specs for a ride that’s in a small amusement park in Silicone Valley.

California Coaster Kings posted their experience with the ride, which has some similarities to Disneyland’s Star Tours.  Guests enter the ride expecting a luxury cruise through the galaxy, but things quickly go wrong as the ship tries to escape from the Reapers.  Attendants are treated to an exciting chase through space accompanied by stunning visuals and sound.  Like Star Tours or Shrek 4D, the chairs move with the visuals and some smoke and mist are used to add to the immersion.

Mass Effect fans will be glad to know that some of their favorite characters make an appearance with their original voice actors.  Commander Shepard, Samara, Garrus, and Wrex make an appearance on the ride.  California Coaster Kings praised the ride for its incredible visuals and sound, and it seems like even people who don’t know anything about Mass Effect will be blown away.
