Mass Effect: Andromeda Receives Final Update

BioWare has recently announced that Mass Effect: Andromeda has officially received its last update. This means that only 5 months after the game’s release the single player mode will not receive any more downloadable content. BioWare stated that “There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content. The development team will continue to add through the story through multiplayer. “Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the first of four games out of the whole series to not have any single player DLC added after the release of the game. “In the coming weeks, our multiplayer team will provide details of their ongoing support and upcoming content, including new multiplayer missions, character kits, and what’s in store for N7 Day.” N7 day being November 7 which is the unofficial holiday that celebrates the series.

It is noted that the Mass Effect series is the type of franchise that publisher EA would attempt to sell quite a bit of downloadable content within the year of the launch. But in this instance it seems like Bioware is trying to cut all ties to a title that contained many bugs at launch, required many patches to fix, and was overall highly disappointing in many areas spanning from animations, to the in game storylines. They also added that they will continue to tell stories in the Andromeda Galaxy through the medium of upcoming comics and novels. Mass Effect: Andromeda’s failures were a direct cause of the restructuring of BioWare Montreal and also brought upon mentions of the series taking a hiatus.
