A new patch is now available for BioWare’s Mass Effect: Andromeda. Gamespot downloaded update 1.07 on Playstation 4 today and found the following patch notes: “Various bug fixes and stability improvements.” Producer Michael Gamble said on Twitter It’s just a hotfix.” Specifically, the update fixes a crash with the SOS quest and a problem with 1080p UI placement. The patch also makes an “athletic outfit available mid-play through.” In addition to fixing bugs the developers also wanted to improve upon the cut scenes in the game. This is outlined on BioWare’s blog.
“In this upcoming patch, we continued to improve our cinematic scenes, particularly in the opening hours of the game. In addition to enhanced performance and stability, we addressed a number of player-reported issues, including a bug that caused SAM to repeatedly tell Ryder they had received new email. Because we don’t want players to miss any of the great side conversations with their crew, dialogue options will no longer appear “greyed out” if a character has more to say.”
For players that are experiencing issues on the PC, Gamble stated that he recommends going offline in Origin, launching the game, then going back online. Another option is to restart Origin, he said. Andromeda was released in March and had a mixed reaction from consumers, which in turn promoted EA management to respond to many concerns about the game. Additionally a report suggested that the Mass Effect series has been put on a hiatus. The report also stated that staffing changes were underway at BioWare Montreal. This is most likely because some developers are shifting over to EA Motive and others are working on BioWare’s new IP. EA has since confirmed the staffing changes and clarified that there has not been any downsizing. They have also not addressed the status of Mass Effect. The patch should go live for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
