With the press conference today, Sony released info on their new PS4 Pro which was previously called PS4 Neo. This new PS4 will have 4K graphics capabilities which will allow games to run with better graphics. The games on consoles will be able to play more like a decent computer bringing consoles to a new stage in the future of console gaming. Also at the conference, Bioware showcased some new Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay to showoff the new 4K graphics capabilites. While the video shows prealpha gameplay, the graphics look amazing along with the flow and the transition from the game to a cutscene seem to be around the same graphically. This short gameplay trailer can be seen below, and we can expect to see a new trailer on November 7th.
In an interview with GameSpot, the lead Producer Fabrice Condominas said that the game will be capped at 30FPS for both PS4 and PS4 Pro. Even though the PS4 Pro is more powerful than the basic PS4 the FPS remains the same which is strange since usually more power allows a console to outperform the other in FPS. Andromeda is not the only game to be doing this as Infamous: Second Son and First Light will also be running at the same FPS as the PS4 version. While this may be true for now, it is possible that in the future the games will be more optimized and use the PS4 Pro for its maximum potential. Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are yet to release what FPS their Pro versions will play at.
Andromeda is expected to come out in 2017, and will be playable on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The PS4 Pro will be out in November for a price of $400 and next week the PS4 Slim will be out for $300.
