Chris Wynn, Senior Development Director for Mass Effect Andromeda, announced via twitter On December 22nd his parting of ways from developing titan, Bioware. Wynn has spent over two years working alongside the team at Bioware, and it appears both parties are parting on civil terms.
In a detailed statement dictated on December 28th to Game Informer, Bioware is quoted regarding Wynn’s sudden departure:
Chris was a great member of the team. We want to thank him for his contributions and we wish him the best in his new adventures. Development of Mass Effect Andromeda continues to move full speed ahead at BioWare Montreal, Edmonton and Austin.
It is ultimately unknown if the fallout between both director and developer will negatively affect the game’s 2016 release. The eagerly awaited addition to the critically acclaimed role playing, sci-fi series remains high on many people’s’ lists for 2016 most anticipated games, and appears unlikely to change despite this hiccup in the game’s wrapping development. Chris Wynn, meanwhile, is an established and talented game maker, having “a hand” in developing the Gears of War franchise, and is generally assumed Wynn will land on his feet. Previous to working for Bioware, Wynn spent a considerable amount of time with EA Games, where he helped helm sports games such as NASCAR, and afterwards worked for Microsoft and Epic Games, respectively.
Wynn himself remains optimistic for the future, as he replied to a comment on Twiiter, “…all is well with Mass Effect and me. It won’t be long before I talk about what’s next.” We can look forward to a hopeful holiday launch of 2016 for Mass Effect Andromeda for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
