Anyone familiar with Northern California is familiar with The Bay, maybe even the city of San Jose. However, few have ever heard of the very close, very similar, town/city named Santa Clara. Home to the theme park: California’s Great America (comparably described as a Knott’s Beery Farm of Northern California).
Announced last year, the theme park will be opening a ride based entirely on BioWare’s ragingly popular sci-fi RPG series, Mass Effect. The ride, excitingly and innovative, will be in 4 D (much like Disney’s California Adventure ride, Soaring Over California, though undoubtedly more in-depth and targetted to a different audience).
Known large publisher of Mass Effect, Electonic Arts (EA) has headquarters up near Santa Clara–thus a possible link.
The ride will open this May 18th, and was announced via the theme park’s twitter account.
Called Double Earth, the ride will be, according to the Theme Park’s website announcement last year, will feature:
…aboard motion-based seating and [wearing] 3D glasses, [while] live performers will curate the journey and interact seamlessly with the ‘next generation 3D visual.
The ride will feature environments and character familiar and beloved from the franchise. Bioware has been very active in the construction and reality of the ride, and fans/tourists will be taken on an adventure with the Normandy while traveling “through mass relay and on to the planet Terra Nova, where not all is as it should be.”
For those unfamiliar with the theme park’s rates, it is nothing like the sky high rate of Dinsey or Universal. With six payments of $14.50, everything is said and done.
The Mass Effect official (and Bioware sanctioned) 4 D ride will be ready to ride on May 18th of this year, at California’s Great America in Satna Clara, California.
