Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has a Spider-Cat that Helps You Fight Crime

We already know that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the most anticipated games coming out for both the PlayStation 4 and the upcoming PlayStation 5, but we just got a whole new reason to be excited about it. Game Informer uploaded a video that showed off some new scenes and gameplay from the title, one of which introduces a brand new character in the game. This character is not only aesthetically appealing but will also be able to help you fight enemies in battles. It’s none other than a bodega cat, which even dons a hero mask when it’s in play, hence its nickname; Spider-Cat.

Initially being introduced as just a bodega cat, which is a cat that hangs out in stores and deli restaurants in New York, Miles Morales ends up helping out the feline and returns it to their owner and the respective store that they inhabit. Ironically, we find out that the cat’s name is Spider-Man, as the owner is apparently a huge fan of the webslinger. Although it’s not explained when this takes place, at some point after this, the cat becomes available for Miles to take with him around the city, as he hangs out in his backpack. The best part, however, is when Miles actually fights enemies, as the cat dons the Spider mask and becomes Spider-Cat, assisting Miles in combat.

It’s only for a brief few seconds, but we do see the cat in action. When Miles attacks, Spider-Cat jumps out of the backpack and unleashes a furious swipe at the bad guy’s face, which will undoubtedly leave some nasty scratch marks. Hopefully, Spider-Cat will have some more attacks or animations in combat, but either way, the cat has quickly become a sensation on the internet. Insomniac Games has already retweeted a plethora of fan art, memes, and other nods to the feline hero, and when the game launches next month, expect those pieces and tributes to go through the roof.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will officially launch on November 12 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
