Marvel’s Avengers’ Launch War Table Reveals First Look At Kate Bishop & What’s Ahead

The latest Marvel’s Avengers War Table livestream celebrating the launch of the game shared look ahead at what players can expect from the game next after launch. Following the leak of potential future characters, Crystal Dynamics confirmed that Kate Bishop will be the first DLC character that will join the game after launch. The War Table also went into detail on new game modes and the weekly gameplay ritual. Before the War Table started, there was a potential tease of Black Panther being added to the game following a Memoriam for Chadwick Boseman who passed away following a 4 year battle with colon cancer.

New characters added to the game will be introduced through Operations which is the campaign that comes with the character. Operation Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking Aim will take place following the conclusion of the base game’s campaign introducing Kate Bishop as she comes to The Avengers for help following a mission that may have led to the disappearance of Clint Barton, the original Hawkeye. Hawkeye was introduced as another DLC character back in July and will also come with his own Operation, Marvel’s Avengers: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect. Speaking on Clint and Kate joining the game’s roster, Crystal Dynamics said “considering the strong friendship and connection between Kate and Clint, we think of their Operations as a double feature.”

The game’s weekly ritual is a combination of Daily and Weekly Missions, Faction Assignments, and other game modes. Some missions and rewards cycle in and out during your play session, some rotate daily, and others will only appear on weekends as Marvel’s Avengers will have daily and weekly content resets. There are 2 factions, each with 8 assignments and 1 Villain Sector per day. Villain Sectors are special missions that will provide epic showdowns in boss fights. Crystal Dynamics said that this is a mission that “you’ll want to keep coming back to, especially the closer your Heroes get to the game’s launch power level cap of 150.”

Other new game modes include SHIELD VAULTS which house resources, gear, and secrets that players should strive for to get ready for challenges in the end game content. SHIELD VAULTS have to be located within other missions first before they can be accessed.

AIM’s Secret Lab is a mode that will only be available once a week and can only be completed within a set timeframe. The mode is set up to be a true test of late-game co-op team play that concludes in a huge boss fight.

Mega Hives are another weekly mission type that tests the full roster of Heroes as you fight your way through descending floors that get tougher and tougher the further down you go. Once a hero goes down, another takes his or her place. When the full roster is defeated, you’ll have to start at the beginning.

The game will also bring in a new Resistance Outpost called SHIELD Substation Zero that will be led by Commander Maria Hill. It will be available shortly after launch and has the Avengers helping Hill after temporal anomalies called Tachyon Rifts begin forming across the world.

Some players are already playing Marvel’s Avengers as they got three days Early Access for the game by pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition of the game. The game is officially out for everybody Friday, September 4, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
