The Avengers Project has been known for quite some time but is still a very mysterious title. It was initially revealed to be in development by Crystal Dynamics as well as Eidos Montreal the studio behind the Deus Ex series in the beginning of 2017. The only thing we’ve actually seen of the game so far was the video announcing the project.
The cryptic announcement trailer only showed some battle scarred scenes of iconic Marvel character gear. Since it’s announcement there has been little to no news about the project in regards to what kind of title it might be but it looks like Square Enix is finally ready to formally reveal what they’ve kept secret all this time about. A tweet was made announcing that Marvel’s Avengers, formerly known as The Avengers Project, will be unveiled during Square Enix’s E3 briefing this year.
The tweet doesn’t specify exactly what will be shown, but states that whatever will be shown will be a worldwide reveal. We’ve received a couple of very sparse development updates in regards to the game last year when some noticed Crystal Dynamics hiring former Naughty Dog and Visceral Game developers. Scott Amos, The studio’s co head stated “We’re committed to delivering an incredible, completely original Avengers experience to our gamers, and that means we are always looking to add amazing developers to our existing best in class studio talent.”
Also, in August of last year, it was confirmed that a Crystal Dynamics opened a new studio in Bellevue, Washington whose focus was primarily on technology development and The Avengers Project. With E3 2019 only a couple weeks away we finally get our first real look at the project. Square Enix’s Press Conference takes place June 1o 6:00 PM PT/9:00 PM ET.
