Marvel SNAP Reveals New Roadmap and More at IGN Live

Fans at this weekend’s IGN Live event were treated to a special presentation from the team behind the hit virtual card game Marvel SNAP, which took the main stage at the show on Saturday. The game is set to have huge new updates throughout both the near and distant future, including the addition of “alliances” on July 30. Second Dinner, the developers of Marvel SNAP, released a development roadmap for the game that can be seen here:

Standard improvements to the game’s performance are coming sooner than later, and with the beginning of next month’s Deadpool-inspired season, a new limited-time event will be introduced titled “Deadpool’s Diner”. The event heavily emphasizes the game’s betting system, using your “bubs” to leverage higher stakes and prizes, eventually unlocking the “Cassandra Nova” card. Similarities can be drawn between “Deadpool’s Diner” and the game’s current “Conquest Mode”, but the upcoming merc-with-a-mouth gamemode promises to be its own kind of high-stakes affair. Visuals of the upcoming event are shown here:

A bit further away than the new Deadpool season, the addition of Alliances (formerly named Clans) will be arriving this Summer, adding a ton of new content to the game. Players will be able to team up to chat, complete bounties, and earn rewards in the new Alliance system, which the developers tease will have many new expansions as time goes on. The developers revealed a first look at screenshots of the Alliance system at the show, which you can see here:

Also announced at the IGN Live presentation were the upcoming limted-time events called “Leagues”, in which players will be grouped into a small leaderboard of 30 players for a short term and compete for prizes. Free leagues will be available to all players, but the option to buy into a Premium league with more rewards will be available as well. League standing will be determined by how many points you earn in standard play, so you can continue ranking up and snapping as normal. This section of the roadmap was wrapped up with a tease that a “new card mechanic” (similar to the On Reveal and Ongoing cards) is coming to the game some time soon, but no spoilers were given from the devs.

Looking even further into the future of Marvel SNAP, the team teased competitions between Alliances, reworked ways to unlock new cards, and the addition of a “draft” mode, which is a staple of collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering. They are still early in development on draft mode, and suggested to the audience to let them know what they should include when the draft mode finally arrives. Following the presentation in Los Angeles, Marvel SNAP released a new post on their website breaking down the development roadmap, which you can find here.
