One of the biggest surprises of 2022 was Second Dinner Studios’ Marvel Snap. The digital collectible card game became an overnight sensation when it launched in October 2022, so much so that it even won Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2022, despite only being readily available for a couple of months prior. That success has continued into 2023, where Gamesindustrybiz has revealed that Marvel Snap has now made $50 million in global revenue. In addition, the game has been downloaded over 18 million times.

Considering the critical acclaim, as well as the initial statistics, it’s not all that surprising to see these numbers increase exponentially. In the first week alone, Marvel Snap reached 5.3 million downloads and $2 million in revenue within the first week alone. Those numbers went on to increase rapidly generated $10 million with 12 million downloads in its first month. Lastly, and before the current statistics, the title surpassed $30 million with 14 million downloads just this past January.
As we already mentioned, Marvel Snap is a mobile game where players use cards pertaining to the Marvel Universe with specific deck builds. According to the publication Second Dinner is also testing a new web store where players can purchase in-game currency, which would allow the developer to avoid the percentage fee that Apple and Google necessitate when using their platform. Players can register online using their player ID to buy the currency and use it. As for more content, Second Dinner is currently working on an X-Men themed season, which is slated to drop sometime next month.
The developer is also continuing to add to and improve the game’s quality of life, such as a new battle mode that allows players to hold private matches. With more features to come on an already fun and exciting system, Marvel Snap will more than likely increase those statistics over the course of 2023.
