NetEase’s Marvel Rivals has been quite the, well, marvel since its release in December. The free to play hero shooter has basically taken over all discussion on the genre, the combination of fun (and decidedly unbalanced) gameplay and the ever iconic Marvel Comics IP has allowed to game to hit the mark for a large amount of gamers. Obviously, this comes with updates and with updates comes new content in the form of limited time skins and modes, as of March 6th, 2025 the newest mode we’ll be getting is a clone rumble.
Fitting for a game that revolves around the multiverse and different versions of every character, in this game mode we’ll be getting a traditional 6v6 game with the obvious exception that every player on a team will be playing the same character against another team of 6 of the same characters. So we’ll be getting things like 6 Hulks vs 6 Lokis or something like that. There’s already a lot of potential for fun, and headaches, if you consider 6 Spider-Men or 6 Iron Men, though the true fear running through the community right now is a team of 6 Dr. Stranges, as his portals tend to cause performance issues and 6 of them will likely set the typical PC on fire.
The mode isn’t all that’s been brought up though, as the patch notes show, we also have a unique Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure board game, where your in-game achievements move your piece throughout Galacta’s little game of Monopoly and grant you rewards based on where you end up. There’s also the typical bug fixes and quality of life player report changes. They also made it so Human Torch’s Lord icon doesn’t look exactly like his regular icon which was hilarious but also not worth working for.
Overall, it looks like another solid update for Marvel Rivals. Hopefully the next one brings some more optimization to the game’s performance on PC but we’ve got a lot to look forward to.
