Make Sure to Destroy Everything You See in the 2D Adventure of Heckpoint

Ever dream of a shoot ’em up where you can actually decimate everything in sight? Well, look no further, as Heckpoint is your best bet. In this 2D bullet hell rogue-lite, everyone and everything (including yourself) is destructible.

The rogue-lite status specifies that Heckpoint doesn’t utilize every roguelike staple, such as turn-based combat or permadeath, but borrows some of the best aspects, including eight procedurally-generated worlds that can be slashed through and cut to pieces. Between slaying enemies, destroying your environment, and dodging an onslaught of bombs, leaving a trace behind you may not be very simple. Combat is conducted in close-quarters, and bosses are located at the ends of every new world that eventually unlock the next area through activating an obelisk. Players can choose from twelve different unique characters, with varying abilities and weapons. In the spirit of a usual bullet hell, Heckpoint will have you reflecting enemy lasers and destroying oncoming grenades through dodging, or one of your melee attacks. In these treacherous landscapes, it’s not unlikely that meteor rain-showers will commence amidst a flurry of oncoming enemies. There are four difficulties to choose from as bullet hell veterans may have an early advantage, but rest assured that the Warpath difficulty will even have Touhou Project master’s skills being pushed to their limits.

The story inside Heckpoint comes as a result of a man-made glitch. A secretive organization has developed a new form of dark energy, and accidentally rips a hole in your current dimension. As a consequence, a ripple effect occurs, and interdimensional conquerors begin flooding your reality. They’ll stop at nothing until you’re under their control, so overcoming their power is your only hope of survival.

The developers over at Nodacoy Games have recently released the full version of Heckpoint after months of Early Access additions, so go ahead and check the game out now on Steam.
