Jurassic World Evolution 3 launched in October 2025 with a strong foundation of dinosaur park management, ecosystem simulation, and an evolving roster of prehistoric animals. However, one fan-favorite carnivore conspicuously didn’t make the initial cut. Majungasaurus, a medium-sized theropod that was originally planned for Jurassic World Evolution 3 but held back from day one. With Update 1.2.3, Frontier Developments has changed that by finally bringing Majungasaurus into the game as a full family unit, delighting long-time players and expanding the park’s predator lineup.
According to the Jurassic World Evolution Wiki Majungasaurus was listed among the species that would come to Evolution 3 through later updates after launch, alongside other dinosaurs from Jurassic World Evolution 2 that weren’t available on day one. Update 1.2.3 released today introduced Majungasaurus as a new dinosaur family unit in Jurassic World Evolution 3. The addition functions fully within the game’s systems, complete with genetics, needs, behaviors, and park integration.
The Majungasaurus had been anticipated since before Evolution 3 launched, but its delayed arrival left some players disappointed. As a medium carnivore, Majungasaurus fills an important role in park ecosystems. Its size and temperament offer a different predator dynamic compared to larger apex hunters, giving players more options for balanced enclosure design. Majungasaurus is a real theropod from Late Cretaceous Madagascar, known for its stout build and unique skull features, so iIncluding it in the game adds a touch of paleontological depth that enriches the experience.
Frontier informed players on Steam that, in addition to this major content addition, the patch also includes a series of gameplay improvements and bug fixes aimed at enhancing build mode tools, UI responsiveness, and overall stability across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. General performance and stability improvements have been fixed along with the inability to exit ‘Discard Eggs’ popup window if the eggs hatch while present.
Park Construction fixes include: The Resolved Camera moving across the park when cycling through grid based scenery pieces while in build mode. Players are now able to perform an undo action with a non-grid based scenery piece while the decorative tab is open and the navigation highlight will no longer get stuck when reopening the Scenery Blueprint menu after placing a blueprint.
This update continues Frontier’s pattern of gradually expanding Evolution 3’s roster. Previous patches have added other dinosaurs (like Kentrosaurus and Deinocheirus) and new gameplay layers such as environmental packs and biome tools. With Majungasaurus now live, many players are hopeful that even more missing species, both classic and obscure will soon appear for free in future updates instead of in DLCs.
