Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast and Sega collectively announced today a Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration. The collaboration will go on sale starting at 9 a.m. PT on July 14, lasting until stock runs out, according to the website.

Three distinctive Secret Lair drops will be included in the collaboration, Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends & Foes, Secret Lair x Sonic: Chasing Adventure, and Secret Lair x Sonic: Turbo Gear. Collections will feature a number of iconic items, stunning and colorful artwork, and newly imagined Magic cards. These cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage forms of play, available in both foil and non-foil versions.

Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends & Foes will feature seven completely new cards in Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair that will feature Sonic, Shadow, Dr Eggman, Knuckles, Amy, and Tails. Each of the cards’ abilities is inspired by the character’s Sonic universe’s powers. Notably, Sonic’s ability name is a direct homage to the Sonic games called Gotta Go Fast. Arts on these cards are created by Evan Stanley, John Thacker, Tracy Yardley, Nathalie Fourdraine, and Tyler Walpole. The seventh card isn’t a direct character card but rather a card known as Super State, which enchants each creature in your control, as seen in the card’s art.

Secret Lair x Sonic: Turbo Gear contains a number of new artifact cards with designs inspired by the Sonic Universe. Art for these cards was created by talented artists Jack Teagle, Evan Stangley, Mike Burns, Sylvain Sarrailh, Tyler Walpole, Tracy Yardley, and Caleb Meurer.  The Reaver Cleaver was redesigned into Knuckle’s Gloves, Swiftfoot Boots as Air Shoes, Myr Battlesphere as Egg Hammer, Hammer of Nazahan as Piko Piko Hammer, Lightning Greaves into the Power Sneakers, Weatherlight into Tornado, Sonic’s Biplane, and finally Myr’s token into Egg Pawn. Secret Lair x Sonic: Chasing Adventure will follow suit, redesigning Generous Gift, Open the Armory, Fabricate, Deadly Dispute, Unexpected Windfall, Sol Ring, and Treasure token into Sonic universe-inspired cards. While the cards aren’t renamed, they feature Sonic’s classic, vibrant, and bold colors.

The cards in the Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends & Foe drop will be sold for $39.99 USD, and the rainbow foil will be available for $49.99. Both of the other two drops will be available for $29.99 without foil and $39.99 with a Rainbow foil. WPN stores will begin to carry these cards in non-foil starting August 21st.
