The next big Magic crossover is coming with Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender on November 21, 2025. Today, Wizards of the Coast has revealed the first details and cards for the set. Regarding the legality of the set, Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender is legal in all formats. The Eternal-legal sets (TLE) are Commander, Legacy, and Vintage-legal sets, and individual cards are also legal where already available in other formats. The cards from Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters are playable in Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Draft and Sealed when opened from Play Boosters. As with every set, Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender is bringing new mechanics to Magic. With Avatar: The Last Airbender, bending is a big part of the set.

Airbend is a keyword action that helps players control the board without getting violent. Airbending a permanent exiles the card. As long as it remains exiled, its owner may cast it for {2} rather than its mana cost. Appa airbends only player permanents. You’ll have to wait and see if there are any cards that airbend opponent’s permanents.

Some spells and abilities will have players waterbend as part of the costs. The activated ability of Katara, Water Tribe’s Hope requires players waterbend {X}. Players myst pay {X}, and for each generic mana in that cost, players may tap an untapped artifact or creature they control rather than pay that mana.

Earthbending is a keyword action. Players can turn the terrain into weapons just like Earthbenders do. Players will be able to do the same with the help of spells and abilities that instruct to earthbend. Toph, the First Metalbender lets players earthbend 2, which turns a target land they control into a 0/0 land creature with haste, then puts two +1/+1 counters on that land. When the land dies or is exiled, it returns as a tapped noncreature land.

Firebending turns aggression into a source of power. When a creature with firebending N attacks, players add N {R} mana. The mana doesn’t go away until the end of combat, so players can use it for any instant-speed activated abilities or spells.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender will have new frames, stunning foil tratements, and more.
