According to Game Informer ,the new trailer for the third installment in the Mafia series has just revealed a new character. Thomas Burke, a hotheaded Irish mob boss, is the focus of the latest trailer. In the trailer, the writers and developers detail Burke’s personality and his relationship to Lincoln Clay, the protagonist of Mafia III.
Mafia III is takes place in 1968 New Bordeaux, a Liberty City-esque parable of New Orleans. The game centers around a man named Lincoln Clay who is a Vietnam veteran born from a mixed racial couple. Clay joins the Black Mob in New Bordeaux and is tasked with assisting George Marcano, son of Don Sal Marcano. Both the Black Mob and Italian Mob plan a heist with a 50/50 split. But after the heist is pulled off, George and Sal decide to betray the Black mob and kill Clay’s friends in the process.
After Clay manages to survive the betrayal, he decides to form his own criminal organization and get revenge on the two. In the process, he attempts to recruit Burke to help him take down Sal and the Marcano family in New Bordeaux. According to the developers, Burke has had a lifetime of drinking and debauchery. However, his addiction has taken its toll on Burke and his relationships.
Both Clay and Burke have a beef with Sal Marcano. Because of his addiction to vice, Burke found himself on bad terms Sal and the Italian mafia. Sal sends a man called Roman “The Butcher” to bash Burke’s left leg with a crowbar. The attack leaves him crippled. Burke looks at Clay’s offer to join his organization as an opportunity to get his revenge on Sal and Roman.
Burke had previously made an appearance in a trailer that dubbed him, “The Anarchist.” He had also previously made small speaking appearance in one of the trailers at E3 2016.
Mafia III is being developed by 2K Czech and Hangar 13. It’s slated for a release in October 7, 2016 on Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
