After just having had a successful release with their game Agony UNRATED on Steam, Madmind Studios doesn’t seem to be stopping. Today they announced a project that they have been working on for some time, a game titled Paranoid that would be coming out for PC. Paranoid is labeled as a survival horror game, with some rather controversial topics. This doesn’t come as a shock as their previous game was also labelled as such.
But Madmind Studios didn’t want to stop at just a single announcement trailer. No, they had to come out with a bang to keep their games rolling. Two announcement trailers were released for Paranoid, and both with a different style to show off the type of scares and mind-bending fears the player will have to deal with.
Though, a fair warning, there is going to be some nudity, drug abuse, and gore in these videos.
Paranoid is set in the 80’s and follows 31-year old Patrick Calman, who has lost his entire family due to some mysterious circumstances. Due to the trauma of his sister going missing and his parents’ violent deaths, Patrick resorts to medication and staying within his apartment. It isn’t until 13 years later that a phone call from someone who sounds like his sister announces that she’s coming back. Patrick now has to leave his life of seclusion to face the horrors outside his door. But whether or not they’re real or just from his addiction, he has to figure out.
To illustrate the kind of game it will be, Madmind Studios also revealed a gameplay concept video along with the two trailers that shows off the brutal fighting mechanics, some of the (rather naked) monsters Patrick must face, and the fact that drug abuse is a possible gameplay mechanic.
Again, nudity, drug abuse, and gore is shown below.
The concept gameplay video shows off the surreal world that Patrick is living in, as well as his first steps outside of the apartment. The opponents’ bodies resemble humans somewhat, but twisted with body parts where they shouldn’t be. The video also shows that anything and everything Patrick can get his hands on becomes a weapon in times of need and self-defense. Pills are also picked up, which alludes to the drug abuse mechanic.
No set date has been revealed for when Paranoid comes out, but it will be out for PC only. Watch Agony’s twitter, or your back, but something will be heading your way.
