Luma, Boom Boom, and Pauline added to the line up on Mario Tennis Aces

Over the past weekend, there was a Nintendo Live event happening over in Kyoto, Japan. This was their second event as the first one took place earlier in the month in Tokyo. But with these past few days, the Nintendo Live event introduced and hosted the tournaments for Splatoon 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Mario Tennis Aces. Through the tournaments and competitions that were happening on the livestream for the event, Nintendo also decided to announce the upcoming DLC add-ons for Mario Tennis Aces. With that, the company is adding Boom Boom, Luma, and Pauline to the line-up of characters:

The first character introduced is Luma, Rosalina’s star child from Super Mario Galaxy and her partner in Super Smash Bros. Luma has the ‘technical’ role for the game. This means that this character will be able to hit balls into sharp angles with ease, making it so their opponent has to run across the court for their ball. There’s a little more control over the accuracy of their swings, but they’re easier to knock back on the court.

The second character is Boom Boom, the mid-boss guardian from Super Mario Bros. 3. He’ll be taking on the role of the ‘defensive’ class. He’ll be able to cover a lot of space on the court, but suffers from the lack of speed and power that most other classes have.

And the final character to be introduced, who has been long-awaited to join the line up, is Pauline herself, the one time damsel-in-distress turned mayor of New Donk City. She’ll be taking the role of the ‘speedy’ class, which is exactly how it sounds. She’ll have an increased peed, making her be able to move across the court with ease. However her reach and her hits won’t be as powerful to balance her out.

With the three new characters being added to the line, players can anticipate seeing them on the court between January and March of 2019.
