Accelerated Game Dev Event Judging Closes at 6pm Pacific Time
Ludum Dare, the time-crunched friendly game development competition is completing its 26th go-round. The event took place over the weekend of April 26th to the 29th, but judging remains open until 6pm PDT, on Monday, May 20th. Entered games can be played and voted on at Ludum Dare’s site.
The competition is in the spirit of events like National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo), Screen Frenzy, 48 Hour Film Festival, where creative endeavors that are normally painfully thoughtful and deliberate are forced into arbitrary time constraints that defeat perfectionist tendencies and force action. The results of Ludum Dare are frequently inspired, though often simply the germ of a good idea and whatever execution time would allow. Ludum Dare holds these competitions regularly, along with smaller monthly events (“mini LDs” or Jams) meant to keep people in practice.
Ludum Dare held its first competition event in 2002 and has regularly held events since.
