Niantic has announced a special Valentine’s Day event for Pokémon GO, running from Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. until Sunday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this romantic-themed celebration, Trainers will find plenty of bonuses, unique encounters, and festive experiences tailored to the season of love.
According the the official Pokémon website, one of the main highlights of this event is the chance to style your Furfrou with its limited-time Heart Trim. Normally, Furfrou spawns in its Natural Form, but throughout the event you can switch its trim by selecting the Pokémon in your storage, using the Change Form option, and choosing the Heart Trim. This cosmetic change costs 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust, giving Trainers a fun way to make their beloved Normal-type pup look extra festive for Valentine’s Day.
Players can also enjoy a variety of event bonuses. While the event is active, Trainers will earn double XP for catching Pokémon and double Stardust from opening Gifts. There’s also an increased chance to encounter Shiny Nidoran Female and Shiny Nidoran Male in the wild, and boosted odds of hatching those shiny Nidoran forms along with Shiny Cherubi from 7 km Eggs.
A Global Challenge runs throughout the event as well. By sending Gifts to friends and contributing collectively, the community can unlock bonuses that will benefit all Trainers for the rest of the celebration. If the challenge is completed, players will gain access to a free Timed Research quest that awards encounters with Spinda featuring a heart pattern, extra XP for Curveball throws, and even the possibility of receiving Rare Candy from Gifts.
In addition to these features, a range of Pokémon will appear more often in the wild during the event. Wild encounters include both Nidoran male, Nidoran female, Furfrou, and others, giving Trainers plenty of opportunities to catch seasonal Pokémon and hunt for their shiny variants. Special Raid battles will spotlight Pokémon like Gardevoir and Gallade, and evolving Kirlia during the event guarantees that these Pokémon know the Charged Attack Synchronoise.
From dressing up Furfrou in its exclusive Heart Trim to earning extra XP, Stardust, and rare Pokémon encounters, the event encourages players to connect with friends, explore their surroundings, and enjoy the lighter, more playful side of the game. Whether you’re hunting, or completing research tasks this limited-time event offers plenty of reasons to jump back into Pokémon GO and spread the love.
