Fitness-focused Liteboxer VR was released on March 3 of this year and is available for free download on the Meta Quest Platform. Liteboxer VR is compatible with Quest and Quest 2 consoles and offers a demo that can be played 5 times, though an $18.99 USD monthly membership is required to access over 500 unique workouts including 400 trainer-led classes and 100 rotating Punch Tracks updated daily.
Liteboxer VR was first announced on January 5th of 2022 at CES 2022, introducing the next wave of innovation as a game that features a full workout experience built to fit into a gaming format, not the other way around. Liteboxer Technologies is a fitness company that combines patented hardware, hit music, game dynamics and expert training in order to create the world’s most immersive workouts. Away from the metaverse, Liteboxer offers a Floor Stand or Wall Mount model which users can use to aim their punches and hit something physical. Connected to a VR headset, however, brings a deeper sense of connectivity and convenience for people to enjoy an intense workout anywhere. VR fitness may also be optimal for those who do not yet feel comfortable working out around others due to COVID-19 or other personal reasons.
Liteboxer’s vision of making workouts fun extends far beyond hardware. VR allows us to democratize the at-home connected fitness experience. For those who don’t have the ability, space, or means to purchase our hardware, the VR platform makes Liteboxer more accessible,
says Liteboxer Technologies CEO and Founder Jeff Morin. What makes Liteboxer VR different from other fitness-focused games is that it is developed by a fitness company rather than a video game company, they have a partnership with Universal Music Group which allows people to select their own workout music and people have the choice to workout with or without controllers. Liteboxer VR’s music library will be refreshed daily and push users to strike to the beat of choreographed hit music.
“The metaverse is primed for outstanding fitness experiences that combine the real-life health benefits of fitness with amazing immersive visuals,” said Morin. “The days of tirelessly cycling on a spin bike or running on a treadmill are over. As the future of fitness remains increasingly hybrid, there is a real demand for physical and virtual options. People are looking for innovative workouts, good music, and engaging fitness experiences that make working out suck less. Championing unique workout experiences, Liteboxer is at the forefront of this fitness evolution.”
Since its official reveal in January, Liteboxer VR has accrued recognition for Best in Gaming according to Wired and Best Fitness Tech by ReviewGeek.
