Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group used Gamescom 2025 to officially reveal LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a brand-new action-adventure game that celebrates 86 years of Batman history across comics, films, television, and games while adding the studio’s signature LEGO humor.
The game is in development at TT Games, known for the massively successful LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch 2. Wishlisting has already gone live, according to a press release.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will follow the journey of Bruce Wayne from his training days with the League of Shadows to becoming Gotham’s legendary protector. Along the way, players will team up with iconic allies including Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, while facing a wide range of classic villains such as The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and more.
Combat has been overhauled with a new system built to reflect Batman’s fighting style, allowing for fluid combos, counters, and cinematic takedowns as seen in the trailer. Players will have access to Batman’s gadgets like the Batarang and Batclaw, while partner characters bring their own signature tools, such as Gordon’s foam sprayer, Robin’s line launcher, and Catwoman’s whip. Two-player local co-op is supported, and for players seeking a tougher challenge, new difficulty options have been added with Caped Crusader and Dark Knight modes.
Gotham City itself serves as an open-world LEGO playground filled with side activities, puzzles, crimes to stop, and collectibles to find. Players can traverse the city in multiple ways, from grappling across rooftops and gliding through the skyline to driving Batmobiles and Batcycles. The Batcave acts as a customizable hub where trophies, vehicles, collectibles, and classic Batsuits can be displayed. Fans who sign up for a free WB Games account will also unlock the Golden Age Batsuit, based on Batman’s debut in Detective Comics #27 from 1939.
Speaking at the reveal, JB Perrette, President and CEO of Streaming & Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, called the project a fresh take on the Dark Knight’s legacy designed for fans of all ages. Jonathan Smith, Strategic Director and Head of Development at TT Games, described it as a love letter to Batman that blends iconic moments from across his history with a distinctly LEGO spin. DC’s Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee emphasized that the game captures the full spectrum of Batman’s character, from detective to vigilante to father figure, while The LEGO Group’s Fredrik Löving highlighted the blend of Gotham’s grit with LEGO’s trademark family-friendly fun.
The announcement came alongside a new trailer shown during Gamescom, giving fans their first look at the LEGO Dark Knight’s world. With its mix of humor, action, and reverence for Batman’s history, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is shaping up to be both a major release for TT Games and a celebration of one of the most enduring heroes in pop culture.
