Season Passes for future DLC are becoming an attractive option for many big name game developers, and today Warner Bros. Interactive have jumped on that bandwagon with their upcoming Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the first time any Lego game has received the Season Pass treatment.
The game, which is due on the 11th and 14th of November this year in North America and the rest of the world for the Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, 3DS and PC, will be getting a large batch of DLC in the form of six DLC packs, each of which contains a unique mission with its own story and free play modes, as well as new characters, vehicles and achievements.
Rather startlingly, three of these DLC packs will be immediately available on launch day, and Season Pass purchasers will have them included with their game, with the other three included in the pass to arrive at a later date. These three packs are as follows:
The Dark Knight Pack, which will be based on the recent movie of the same name featuring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. This pack will allow players to participate in the chase scene from the movie, in which the Joker and his gang pursue Harvey Dent in an attempt to capture him, with Batman in pursuit. Both the Dark Knight himself, the Joker, and Commissioner Gordon will be playable, as well as Bane and Catwoman from the more recent The Dark Knight Rises.
Man of Steel Pack, which is based on the recent Superman reboot of the same name, will be based on the opening moments of the film, in which Superman’s father, Jor-El, along with his wife Lara and robot Kelex must fight their way through General Zod’s forces with the objective of launching an infant Kal-El towards Earth.
Batman 75th Pack is a sort of celebration of the iconic character over his long and storied history. Framed around the Joker and Harley Quinn “celebrating” their foe’s history, this DLC allows players to play as Batman in his various incarnations, going all the way back to his first appearance in Detective Comics #27.
Each of these packs will be individually priced at $3, while the Season Pass will be priced at $14.99, a $3 saving for all six packs.
