Word has been going through the grapevine that a new Legend of Zelda game might be on its way to the 3DS soon. Although the information is not official, it is still plentiful in content.
Regarding the 3DS inspired a Link’s Awakening game coming out this year. The team behind it is Grezzo who have handled many Zelda games for 3DS. A prime example is the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D.

According to Marcus Sellars, editor and writer for the Switch Network, Miketendo 64, NintenCity, and Japanese Nintendo, a 3DS Legend of Zelda game is in the works, and it should be out sometime within the first 6 months of 2018.
In addition, someone over on Reddit posted similar news last month. A user by the name of Nate869621 “leaked” information regarding the new game. Apparently, the title was supposed to come out in 2017, but it was delayed due to Breath of the Wild and its DLC. The delay, however, has given the developers time to put focus on a more open experience in the possible upcoming game. It is, again, suspected of being inspired by Link’s Awakening. Also, there might be a 2DS bundle, a Q 2/3 release window, and an official reveal happening soon.
One key piece of information that might make or break the rumor is Grezzo, the developers behind many of the Legend of Zelda games on the 3DS. The company started with their port of Ocarina of Time on the 3DS in 2011, and they have released three Legend of Zelda games since then. There is a trend of the company releasing these games every three years, and three years have passed since the last release.
Since the game is expected to be revealed soon, we might find out more about this mysterious Link’s Awakening re-imagining. Take this information with a grain of salt, however, for these are nothing more than rumors.
