Bill Overbeck is proving to be a hard man to kill.
Behaviour Interactive announced today the newest DLC for their asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight, which is introducing to the game a new playable character with a familiar face: Bill, from Valve’s cooperative zombie shooter Left 4 Dead.
When last we saw Bill, he was saving his teammates from an overwhelming wave of zombies in the Left 4 Dead campaign “The Sacrifice”, at the end of which he is left behind to die so that his friends can escape and survive to fight another day.
The new Dead by Daylight DLC, aptly named “Left Behind”, serves as a non-canonical follow-up to this sad tale, and imagines a world in which Bill somehow survived his absolute pummeling by 3 tanks and a whole horde of zombies at the end of The Sacrifice, only to now be thrust into the nightmarish world of Dead by Daylight to fight for his life against all new horrifying villains, as depicted in this short teaser trailer for the DLC:
Bill will not just be a new cosmetic skin on top of existing playable character options, but rather a completely new survivor, with his own set of new, unique skills, inspired by his legacy as the tough, grizzled Vietnam vet of Left 4 Dead.
Bill’s first perk, “Borrowed Time”, gives extra protection when saving teammates from the killer’s meat hooks, giving a short window of time after the rescue in which neither he nor his newly-liberated teammate can be downed by the enemy, incentivizing team play and making Bill a great savior.
The other two perks focus on the solo survivability of Bill; the first, “Unbreakable”, lets Bill pick himself up from a downed state once per round without the help of a teammate, and the second, “Left Behind”, gives Bill a bonus to his objective repair speed when he is the only member of his team remaining.
