Leaked LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet Set Could Arrive This August

An image reportedly posted to r/Legoleak has reveal what appears to be LEGO’s next premium collaboration with Nintendo, with the new set recreating the original 1981 Donkey Kong arcade cabinet in a 1,367-piece build, expected to retail for around $200. The image indicates that the new build will recreate the original arcade machine, the artwork, and the control panel, with some characters included in the set being Donkey Kong, Jumpman Mario, and Pauline. Aside from revealing the number of pieces in the set and the approximate retail price, the leak also indicates that the LEGO Donkey Kong cabinet will be reportedly releasing in August 2026. The leaked image also appears to show several interactive features, as it appears to have a movable joystick, some potential barrel movement, and other interactive gameplay-inspired mechanisms.

If the set does release this August, it would arrive near the 45th anniversary of the original Donkey Kong arcade game, first released in Japanese arcades in July 1981. While the timing may be intentional, neither LEGO nor Nintendo have officially confirmed it. Intentional or not, the reported release window coincide with significant milestones in Nintendo’s history. This set works as a celebration of Nintendo’s arcade origins, Donkey Kong’s debut as a character and franchise, Mario’s first appearance as Jumpman, and Shigeru Miyamoto’s breakout success as the arcade cabinet’s designer and director.

This celebration of Nintendo’s history as a LEGO set would be a continuation of LEGO’s growing line of premium gaming display sets. LEGO has put out many display sets in collaboration with Nintendo, like a Nintendo Entertainment System, a Question Block, a Bowser set, and the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda. However, it should be remembered that this information is primarily from a leak. Nintendo of America previously shared imagery that, in hindsight, appears to have teased this set, but neither LEGO nor Nintendo have made any official announcement on the matter. Until LEGO or Nintendo officially unveils the set, all reported details — including its release date, price, and interactive features — should be treated as unconfirmed.
