Many simulation games follow similar trends and stick to similar themes. Both farming and shop simulators take mundane, repeatable tasks that not everyone has the chance to experience for themselves and turns it into a calming game with a slow sense of progression. Due to the popularity of these themes in the genre, it comes as no surprise that Fireline Games, the developers of Leafy Corner, have sought to combine both types of simulators into a plant shop title. The game has now received a trailer announcing the release date coming later this summer.
True to its name, Leafy Corner places players in a literal corner for their shop, with the opening shots of the trailer emphasizing the comforting closeness of the business. In addition to managing the shop, players will be responsible for watering plants according to their needs and placing them in ideal locations throughout the building. As they progress, players will also gain access to different kinds of plants to add variety to their list of purchasable items. These plants come with unique purchase and sale prices that can be worked around when running the shop.
The second half of the trailer also shows off some of the decorations that can be placed along the walls, such as special pots and paintings. The Steam page expands on this by explaining that decorations will be unlocked over time. Some customers may also have difficulty choosing from the over 100 plants available in the game, creating puzzles for the player to find the ideal item for them. The page also explains that the game will not include a storyline or hardcore fund management such as hiring staff.
Caring for a variety of plants can be a difficult responsibility, making simulation games a good introduction to the hobby. Fans will have the chance to experience Leafy Corner for themselves when the game releases on July 30th.
