LCS Is The Third Most Popular Professional Sports League In The United States

As the year draws to a close, the LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) celebrated the 2019 season by providing “a few facts and figures from the year.” In a statement about 2019 LCS Year in Review, they said: “While we prep for our strongest season yet, we wanted to take a beat to celebrate the wins – big and small – that made up our year. It’s been a good one. We’ve welcomed new partners – from Honda to Alienware and cheered along with over 53k live fans from our LCS studios to Detroit and St. Louis. We’ve partnered with our host cities and boosted their local economy contributing $5.44m  in Detroit alone. Along the way, we’ve made LCS the third most popular professional sports league among 18-34-year-olds in the United States.”

Regarding the new partners, the LCS had 11 new partners join with 91% returning or on multiyear deals. In total, the LCS partners include Alienware, Honda, Panasonic, Rocket Mortgage, Snaps, Nations, State Farm, Caffeine, Mastercard, Red Bull, Secret Lab, and UGG.

The LCS also revealed some other tidbits concerning the partners. Rocket Mortgage was the first presenting sponsor of the LCS finals, Scouting Grounds and the MVP award was sponsored by Honda, the custom belt for the 2v2 championship for Rift Rivals: NA vs EU was created by Alienware who also supported Champ Select, Barron Buff was “powered by Red Bull,” and State Farm will continue to focus on analyst moments on the desk as they have extended their sponsorship through 2021.

Other details that were shared in the 2019 LCS in Year Review include that 2.4m hours of the 2019 Spring Finals were watched. There were 609k peak concurrent viewers with 433k average concurrent viewers. In total, 53k fans attended an LCS event this year. Lira Vulcan Huni played the most games in 2019 LCS, 1118 dragons were killed, 63 elder dragons killed, 365 barons were killed while 15 barons were stolen. The most picked champ was Aatrox at 101. The most banned champ was Irelia with a number of 131. Ezreal was the most winning champ at 55.
