LCG Entertainment Revives Telltale Games

Last year, Telltale Games shut down due to lack of financing. This meant that games like The Wolf Among Us, would not be getting a sequel. However, recently, a company called LCG Entertainment is bringing the company back from the grave. According to Gamespot, LCG Entertainment plans to sell some of Telltale Games’ previous works, as well as working on creating new games, and offering former Telltale employees freelance opportunities.

The new Telltale Games is being headed by James Ottilie and Brian Waddle, who both bring their unique experiences to the table in managing the new company, with Ottilie as the previous CEO and Founder of the studio Galaxy Pest Control, and Waddle previously running sales for Havok Games. Polygon interviewed Ottilie about the new company and he had this to say, “We’re still evaluating, but we definitely want to continue some of the stories.” This means that some of Telltale’s popular games might be coming back to gamers. However, it is currently unknown which games are receiving a sequel or a revival. The company does have the back catalog rights to The Wolf Among Us as well as full rights to Puzzle Agent. Unfortunately, one license they no longer have access to is The Walking Dead.

The new studio for Telltale Games will be based in Malibu, California, and will have the publisher Athlon Games dealing with distributions. Ottilie stated that the new company would make a few changes to the company, “We’re going to stay small over the next six months and we will work for more of a distributed development pipeline than Telltale was known for,”. He has also stated that while the company will maintain the episodic style of their games, they will change the pacing and have animation and motion capture produced with specific partnerships externally. Luckily, the class-action lawsuit against Telltale Games will not affect the new company.
