Springboarding off their previous success bringing their intellectual property to mobile platforms with Hitman Go, Square Enix recently brought Final Fantasy VII to mobile, and Lara Croft is next in line. On August 27th, Lara Croft Go will be released for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
With a unique visual aesthetic inspired by older games in the Tomb Raider franchise, players will take on the role, once again, of Lara Croft in a top-down isometric casual-pace puzzle game. As Lara, players will travel through ruins and make use of whatever they can get their hands on to get themselves through the perilous ancient caverns.
This is the second of two very similar games to come from Square Enix Monstreal for mobile devices. Development of the game followed the successful launch of the Hitman Go mobile game, which also took an existing intellectual property (in this case, the Hitman franchise) and was paired with a new and unique visual aesthetic to go with the notably different gameplay experience. In the end, it all makes for an adorable, yet engaging spinoff that satiated the appetites of many hungry Hitman fans. With any luck, Lara’s spinoff will be equally enjoyable.
Once more, Lara Croft Go releases on August 27th, 2015 for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, and will cost potential players $4.99.
