LA Demo Days 2022: Gunfire Reborn Hands-On Impressions

We got the opportunity to go hands-on with several of publisher 505 Games’ upcoming titles such as Gunfire Reborn, a hyper-stylized, roguelite-inspired co-op First Person Shooter. The game is currently available on PC and has been enjoyed by more than two million people on Steam with a 94% “very positive” user review score. The game is set to launch on PC and Xbox Game Pass in October.

Gunfire Reborn can be played with up to 4 players cooperatively and features 6 playable heroes that each have a unique and different playstyle from one another. The Crown Prince throws out smoke bombs and energy orbs. Ao Bai can temporarily wield two weapons. Qing Yan can utilize martial arts. Lei Luo can manipulate lightning. Tao can unsheath multiple flying swords, and Qtan Su can summon a tidal aspis and punch through the opposition.

The game features procedurally-generated levels packed with enemies and loot. When you die, you’ll earn a soul essence that can be used to acquire powerful, permanent buffs in 6 talent trees. As you play, you can choose to level up a character’s various abilities during each run. Players will also come across various vendors to purchase things like more ammo, grenades, or a new weapon or upgrade a weapon they are currently using.

In short, Gunfire Reborn is Borderlands meets Hades. It’s got the frantic combination of gunplay, character abilities, and the variety of weapons that Borderlands has within the roguelite structure of Hades. It’s a blast to play.

Gunfire Reborn is available on PC via Steam, coming to PC and Xbox Game Pass on October 22, and will make its way onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the future. This Fall, a huge free update is coming to the game with new weapons, modes, random bosses, and more. Next Spring, a paid DLC will add in new heroes, weapons, and more.
