Konami Opens New Studio in Osaka

Konami’s push to reintroduce themselves into the video game community continues with a major new move. The company has announced that they have officially opened brand new studio down in Osaka, Japan. Dubbed the Konami Osaka Studio, the company’s new place of production is located at the Osaka Umeda Twin Towers South, which is a major building complex that shines brightly throughout the day and glimmers at night. Konami also reflected on its 50th anniversary in existence, adding that this new studio will “continue sustainable growth in the next 50 years.”

In addition to this newly opened studio, Konami is also waiting on another production center to be completed in Tokyo. That complex, which has the working name of “next generation R&D center,” is slated to be completed sometime in 2025. As for this new studio in Osaka, Konami states that existing IP’s and other projects will be relocated to here where the main mantra is “Creators First.” Konami also mentioned that the Osaka studio has been fully prepped with the intention of giving the developers inspiration for new ideas.

The company lastly mentions that they have “substantially” raised the base salary level of all employees, giving the current employees, as well as new ones, a major boost in pay. As we mentioned earlier, Konami has been on a path of reintroduction to the video game world, as they have mainly kept themselves out of the AAA picture since late 2015. This new resurgence came with the much-anticipated reveal that the company was reviving the much beloved Silent Hill franchise when they announced Silent Hill F, Silent Hill Townfall, and the long-awaited remake of one of the greatest horror titles of all time, Silent Hill 2.
