In an interview with GameReactor at this year’s E3, legendary game director Hideo Kojima expressed his interest in having an outside studio adapt the original Metal Gear Solid on the new Fox Engine.
Unsurprisingly, a skewed version of this interview made rounds, forcing Kojima to clear the air on Twitter:
However, Chris mistranlated as “Personally he would like have MGS1 on Fox Engine, so he try to find someone right now to do that.” NOOOOO!!!

Well, if there’s some creator or team in this world who has love and passion to remake “MGS1”, I would love to ask for it.

Just Add Water, British developer behind the Oddworld series HD remakes, quickly posted an open letter on their website (which has since been removed) expressing their desire to remake the game.
They list three reasons in support of their cause:
“One: we have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.”
“Two: many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.”
“Three: We really, really want to do it.”
Whoever is chosen to remake the classic game will have huge challenge ahead of them. Fans, and Kojima himself, will likely not accept anything but perfection.
