Kirby and the Forgotten Land is easily one of Nintendo’s biggest releases so far this year. The Switch exclusive has been the talk of the video game community since it launched this past March and has also brought the franchise to a newer peak that it has not seen since the mid-1990s. According to Gamesindustrybiz Lead Writer Christopher Dring, the title has now made another major milestone. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is now the most successful Kirby game in UK Charts history, and considering the amount of AAA titles that grace those numbers, this is a pretty impressive statistic.
Dring didn’t offer any specific numbers when tweeting this, but it’s also important to note that he was also reporting on the UK Charts in general when revealing this. With that said, this essentially means that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is now the most successful Kirby title to ever grace the United Kingdom, a feat that is not to be taken lightly. As we already mentioned, the UK Charts has a who’s who of big names that runs across their list all the time, and Kirby’s newest outing also had the biggest franchise launch in the United Kingdom as well, further emphasizing this new milestone.
It’s not just in the United Kingdom that Kirby and the Forgotten Land was massively successful. The title also made a huge splash in its native Japan, where it also had the biggest Japanese launch in franchise history. With the series celebrating its 30th Anniversary, and with the newest entry being wildly massive success, 2022 really seems to be the year of Kirby. We also reviewed Kirby and the Forgotten Land and came away very impressed. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
