Kingdom Hearts To Become Available on Steam June 13th

The Kingdom Hearts video game series will be available on Steam starting June 13, 2024.

The trailer also teases a re-recording of Simple and Clean, a Kingdom Hearts song by Hikaru Utada.

Contained in the Steam release are Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). These three games can be bought in a bundle titled Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece

According to the official Square Enix site, Kingdom Hearts is pitched as an action role-playing game that bridges the gap between Final Fantasy and Disney/Pixar characters. Before the Steam release, the Kingdom Hearts series was on Epic Games, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Because the timelines of the games are somewhat convoluted, with multiple crossover games such as Dream Drop Distance (2012) which includes game characters such as Neku from The World Ends With You (2007), Square Enix has an official blogpost detailing a suggested play order.

Kingdom Hearts Producer Ichiro Hazama released a statement regarding the news saying

“By bringing the KINGDOM HEARTS series to Steam, we’re excited to welcome in new fans to the series by making it more accessible than ever before.

On behalf of the entire KINGDOM HEARTS team, I’d like to share our excitement for so many new players to discover and enjoy the action, magic, and friendship of KINGDOM HEARTS through Steam.

Of course, we’re also excited for longtime fans to experience these classics in a new way.”

Kingdom Hearts is the product of collaboration between Square Enix and The Walt Disney Company. Known for being designed mainly by Tetsuya Nomura and Shinji Hashimoto, the series is based in an original fictional universe and contains crossovers of different Disney IPs. The soundtrack is composed by Yoko Shimomura. There are thirteen total games spanning across different platforms, with future games slated for production. The game starts off on protagonist Sora, but sometimes switches between games.
