Square Enix has revealed yet another Kingdom Hearts compilation. Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far is the ultimate compilation of the series which contains the last two Kingdom Hearts compilations, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. This will include a total of nine games that comprise the full Kingdom Hearts story, everything that leads to Kingdom Hearts III.
The games that will be available are Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage. Each compilation also has certain games that are only comprised of the cutscenes. These are Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts Re: coded, and Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover.
Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far will be available for the PlayStation 4 on October 30. It will cost $39.99. It is available for pre-0rder on Amazon and the Square Enix Store now. Curiously, there has been no announcement that the compilation will be available for the Xbox One since Kingdom Hearts III will be the first time that the series will launch on an Xbox system. Hopefully, it’ll be made available for those who want to experience the full story of the series. It may be another situation where Square Enix and PlayStation made a deal to launch things on their platform first, before getting released everywhere else, a timed exclusive situation that seems to be a part of the video game industry.
If you plan on picking up this collection or just want to get some background into the story of the series, then this timeline will definitely help. The next chapter in the Kingdom Hearts saga, Kingdom Hearts III, will be available January 29, 2019, for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
