We’ve recently gotten details about some DLC coming to Square Enix’s action RPG Kingdom Hearts III. Many fans were hoping to get few details after developers revealed that the team currently have plans for both paid and free post launch content for the sequel.
The developer stated earlier this year that the smaller updates that improve gameplay and add features for the game will be free of charge to players while bigger content that expounds the story more in depth will come at a price. The studio even went on further to reveal one of the first few updates to be coming to the game after many longtime fans found that a feature considered to be a staple for the series was noticeably missing from the the game.
Critical mode, a difficulty setting that makes the game significantly harder was confirmed by the game’s co director Tai Yasue announced that the mode was in development and even revealed what the mode will exactly entail, how exactly it effect the game’s play, and what sets it apart from the modes previous incarnations in past titles. And now, to a pleasant surprise, we’ve gotten the confirmation that the Critical Mode update for Kingdom Hearts III will be released today!
Series director Tetsuya Nikita went to Twitter and made the announcement “We have been a while. It’s warm and cheerful in spring, but how are you doing? We have kept you waiting for the “KH Ⅲ” critical mode, but we will update it on the 24th Japan tomorrow. I have changed the idea a little so far, please enjoy it by all means For those who love a good challenge this update is bound to test players as the take another trip through the KH3’s story.”
Square Enix hasn’t commented on any other details or features being added to the game through this update yet so as for now it’s safe to expect only the new difficulty setting as the only major bit of content added to the game unless Square Enix confirms otherwise.
