Kingdom Heart III’s New Trailer Shows off Tangled’s World: Kingdom of Corona

Back in June, fans of Kingdom Hearts III found out that Disney’s Tangled would become one of the in-game worlds that our main heroes can visit. There had been clips during E3 that showed off a bit of the Tangled world, as well as a few tricks that Rapunzel could do with her hair. But other than that, there wasn’t much other than the announcement.

However, with the upcoming release date hanging over everyone’s head, Square Enix decided to show off a bit more of Tangled’s world in the Kingdom Hearts III universe, known simply as Kingdom of Corona:

Once again, we see the almost exact stylized animation that Disney had used for the original movie being done in the game. It shows off parts of Tangled with Rapunzel getting herself free and her constant fight between going home and staying out on the adventure. This is expected, as the Kingdom Hearts series have always tried to combine the storylines of the Disney classics with the addition of the game’s own ongoing plot.

There is, however, some new things that this trailer does show off, namely the new Heartless and Nobody creatures that our main characters must face off against. The designs are reminiscent of the landscape around them, and fit into the design of Tangled as a whole. Exciting, and will surely create some new challenges.

The other new thing is the upcoming keyblade:

The entrance of the new Corona keyblade, named “Miracle Staff” (assuming, from the image) is just as spectacular as one might think, with the sun imagery that’s scattered all throughout Tangled’s story. The moves that come with it show the same sun image, and have some new flips and tricks as well. Sora and the gang pop into what looks like a floating go-kart as well. Whether or not this is a new move, or a new minigame, is still up in the air.

Any exciting new game play for a new world being added to Kingdom Hearts III is always welcomed. Kingdom Hearts III will officially launch January 29, 2019 for the PS4 and XBox One.
