Killer Instinct Fans Get Special Holiday Surprise

Fans of Iron Galaxy’s Killer Instinct got a special holiday treat this week with a new content update that fan’s have been waiting for, online multiplayer. The surprising announcement came this Tuesday on Ultra-combo’s blog forum by Killer Instinct Team Lead Kraig.

I just received word that KI Classic 1 will get an update to add online multiplayer TONIGHT via our friends at Code Mystics. The rollout should occur around 5pm Pacific time.

Along with the new multiplayer mode, Kraig also detailed other bugs and patches being addressed in the next update. There will be a new analog stick disable option that fans have been requesting from the publisher. Players will now be able to shift through the front menu options more easily, another fan requested fix. A bug caused the wrong music to play for Riptor’s Ultra Music and should be fixed by patch before the new content update. Story Mode XP is able to unlock, however it does not always get deposited. The issues is currently being investigated and will hopefully be resolved soon.

There was a Q&A portion, in the forum, where Kraig answered fans questions for the upcoming update and what to look forward to in the new year. Rank levels will be raised in a new feature being outlined in January. Current holiday outfits will be available until December 31. There will be future XP events but none available for announcement at this time. A new achievement will be added to Season 1 along with a new mural for players to use as a background. Also an XP bug will be fixed for Killer Instinct Season 1, which stated by Kraig in regards to any other upcoming updates for Season 1, “Everything is focused on Season 2 going forward.” So while the game will get minor tweaks here and there it seems that there will not be much content difference than whats already available.
