During the June 6th, 2025 Summer Game Fest, Square Enix revealed their newest game, Killer Inn. The game is designed to be a team-based social deduction game where players are divided into two teams, the lambs and the wolves. Killer Inn’s premiere trailer showcases a number of different characters that should be playable in the game and explains the game’s premise. While the game has been announced, a release date hasn’t yet been confirmed.
The two teams will be dropped into a large mansion with wolves being tasked with murdering all of the lambs, whilst the lambs will be tasked with discovering who the wolves stopping them from murdering everyone. The twist is that at the start of the game, nobody knows who their other teammates are. The gameplay loop will include exploration of the mansion, the collection of survival gear and weapons from chests, as well as merchants, according to an IGN article. Tokens are also able to be collected from a quest system, which can be used to unlock special chests for better gear.
The game will also contain over 20 different characters with abilities that level up as the match progresses, each character can also equip an assortment of different weapons to fend of members of the opposing team. Should a play die, there bodies will contain clues as to who the culprit was in order to help players narrow down who the wolves. The UI even comes with a feature that tracks clues for the player.
In this fashion a lamb will serve as judge, jury, and executioner for once a wolf is identified a lamb must kill them before the wolf kills anyone else. However, if a lamb accidentally kills another lamb then both players will perish. There are also safe zones scattered throughout the building where wolves cannot kill the lambs, which leads to the final condition; unlocking a boat at the harbor to escape which will require a large amount materials from around the map.
