Just Announced at The Game Awards, Order of a Sinking Star; a Game with Over 1,000 Puzzles 10 Years in The Making

Jonathan Blow, a figurehead of the Indie game scene in the early 2010s, just announced that he’s putting out a new project that’s taken him over a decade to make. Order of The Sinking Star was introduced by Geoff Keighley as being produced by the creator of the time-bending puzzle game Braid and the open-world mystery title The Witness.

From the trailer, it looks like Order of The Sinking Star, set to release next year on Steam, aims to expound upon Blow’s innovative mechanics in the format of a top-down puzzle experience that seemingly takes place in a contiguous world. There’s apparently over 1000 puzzles in the game for players to, well, puzzle over, and hopefully they require the creative solutions and boast the unique difficulty Jonathan Blow’s previous titles achieved. On the Steam page, there will be multiple different playable characters to “discover,” and you can help them help each other on your journey.

Julian Ebert: Although I graduated with a major in film, video games hold a special place in my heart. I love games with atmosphere, immersion, and tense gameplay loops, so my favorite games gravitate toward horror and survival shooter greats like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Resident Evil series. When I’m not enjoying one of those, I like to read science fiction and check movies off of my “to watch” list.
