Jinx-It Games, an independent studio based in England, recently shared the demo trailer for their dark fantasy adventure game titled Framing Dawes.
Although not too much of the plot has been revealed, Framing Dawes looks to be about a young teenaged girl on a journey to prove her innocence as the main suspect in a mysterious murder case. “After a heated argument with her Father, a desperate Bay Dawes runs away to the woods and digs up a box of her Mother’s belonging she gathered before she was taken away to Witherington End Asylum. Within this box sits an ornate bottle full of a strange dark fluid with a faded but inviting label promising to transform her into her most perfect self…”

(Warning: Potion may cause memory loss, paranoia, hallucinations, insanity, and death.)
After taking a sip of the mysterious potion, Bay Dawes awakens in her bedroom with no recollection of anything. All seems well and good until she discovers a strange email someone has sent her. The message warns her that the police are on their way to arrest her, believing her to be responsible for the sudden disappearance of a young boy. After leaving home, Dawes and her rabbit, Dink, set out on a mission to discover who is Framing Dawes.
Players will need to solve puzzles, collect objects, investigate clues, cast spells, and review Dawes journal in order to help her regain her memories to recall what truly happened on that questionable night. Along the way, players will meet a cast of interesting characters including a bust of Charles Darwin and swamp mermaid named Gretchen. According to the developer, the demo is expected to be around 20 minutes and will “set the tone and foundation for the whole game.”

Framing Dawes is currently a work-in-progress and does not have an official launch date. In addition to the trailer, the studio mentions that players can look forward to testing out the upcoming demo later this fall season. The demo will be playable on both Windows and Mac, and should be free to download from the project’s itch.io page. A Steam page for the game is currently in the works, but more information on that should be shared in the coming months.
