Jay & Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch Fig Campaign Raises $50k On First Day

Already well on its merry way, Kevin Smith’s newest video game project has raised 12% of its $400,000 goal. The Fig supported campaign is seeking crowd funding until its deadline of March 31st.

Titled Jay & Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch and being helmed by the team at Interabang Entertainment, the game will not only feature characters from the Askew-niverse, but will also be voiced by Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.

If the campaign bears fruit, the game will be made available for PC–via Steam, The Humble Store and GOG–as well as for consoles Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Able to play as popular characters from Smith’s hit films, developers created a wacky co-op side scrolling fighting game taking place inside a utopian super mall. The game will have both a single player campaign alongside a multiplayer option. Interabang Entertainment is looking to make the game a fun “beat-em-up” where players can switch between characters, as well as use the powers of smack talk to inflict damage to an opponent’s self esteem, called Convo Combo:

With the Convo Combo mechanic, players alter a branching story line and shape the outcome of boss interactions through fast-paced, dirty dozen, insult-driven combat. It feels like a fighting game, but instead of breaking your opponent’s body your aim is to break them in a much more permanent psychological way. Or, if flattery and persuasion is more to your taste, you might try to avoid the fight entirely, perhaps even making an ally in the process.

When asked for a statement on why a Jay and Silent Bob game hasn’t come along until now, Smith stated:

People have asked me for years why I never made a Jay and Silent Bob video game. Now I can tell them I was waiting for Justin Woodward from Interabang Entertainment and our own Elias to bring it together. Couldn’t be happier to hand our characters off to folks who know them as well as I do.

The developers are going above and beyond for their backers, offering kick ass incentives, such as artbooks, signed prints, soundtrack copies, shirts, figurines, plushies, and way, way more! They have until March 31st, so if you are looking to invest and get in on the action, check out their Fig!
