Saturday in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, India, city police arrested eight people responsible for allegedly developing a mobile game application that scammed multiple people out of six crore or sixty million American dollars. Deputy Commissioner of Police Gyan Chand Yadav further confirmed that the station’s special team discovered that the individuals were alleged members of a gang and had previously been involved in other types of fraud such as allegedly disguising themselves as a call center to conduct illegal trades.
The Pratap Nagar police team raided their place of operation upon discovering the dubious mobile game being used to allegedly lure local youth to bet on cricket games and other types of sports. The eight gang members would allegedly get people to register for the application after paying for it online. In return, they allegedly would give the customers registration numbers to gamble online in order to fool people. In actuality, the gang members would allegedly simply take the registration fees from the customers, but the application users would not receive any return in investment from the gambling. Investigations of the individual found that the gang members allegedly had bank transactions equal to six crore from the group scamming youth with the mobile gaming applications.
“The accused misled several youngsters into the world of gambling and betting through a dubious application. The accused took money from youngsters and cheated them by promising returns,” Yadav said.
The Pratap Nagar police identified the alleged accused eight gang members as Vishal Yadav, Mukesh Jajharia, Adil Khan, Aman Sharma, Yogesh Kumar Jat, Pankaj Kumar Meghwal, Sunil Kumar Singh, and Suresh Kumar. However, later on the police team were able to locate other alleged members of their gang named Sandeep Kumar, Abdul Rashid, Praveen Kumar, and Ankit Yadav.
With such a prevalent scam and hefty amount of money accumulated from the operation, the alleged gang members have the potential of facing a seven year long imprisonment sentence for each member. However, with the discovery of the group’s alleged affiliation with a gang, they could serve a much harsher sentence for the crime they have committed. As of right now, the Pratap Nagar have the group in custody awaiting their trials.
